Radiesse

Merz biostimulator with calcium hydroxylapatite. Volume on day one, collagen for 12 to 18 months.

Also known as: Radiesse+, Radiesse Plus, CaHA filler

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a brand from Merz Aesthetics. The active substance is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), the same mineral that occurs naturally in human bone and teeth. The spheres are 25 to 45 micrometres in size and suspended in a CMC gel carrier. Radiesse was approved in the EU in 2003 and has been one of the most-used biostimulators ever since.

How Radiesse works

Radiesse is a hybrid between filler and biostimulator. The gel carrier provides immediate volume on injection. The CaHA microspheres signal fibroblasts to build type I and III collagen over 4 to 6 months. Once the gel is absorbed, the collagen carries the volume. The spheres then break down to calcium and phosphate ions which the body absorbs through normal bone turnover.

Radiesse at Dibélle

At Dibélle, Radiesse is used mainly for the jawline and cheekbone definition where a firmer structure than hyaluronic acid gives better projection. Hyperdiluted Radiesse — the product diluted 1:1 or 1:2 with saline — is used for skin tightening on the neck, décolletage, and hands. The treatment suits patients over 35 with early volume loss or skin laxity.

Results and safety

Initial volume fades after 4-6 weeks as the gel absorbs, then collagen build-up takes over. The final result lasts 12-18 months. Radiesse is not injected into lips (nodule risk) and not into the tear trough (visible white particle risk). The substance cannot be dissolved. Correct placement — deep subdermal or against periosteum — is critical. Choose an injector with specific CaHA training.

Common questions about Radiesse

How long does Radiesse last?
Results last 12 to 18 months. The initial volume from the gel carrier fades after 4-6 weeks but by then the collagen build-up has taken over and continues throughout the treatment period.
What does Radiesse cost in Helsingborg?
Radiesse is priced per syringe (1.5 ml). The total depends on the number of syringes and area — the jawline usually needs 1-2 syringes, full face 2-3. At Dibélle, consultation and follow-up are included. Current pricing is on our prices page.
Is Radiesse better than hyaluronic acid filler?
They are different products for different purposes. Hyaluronic acid gives quick adjustable volume in thin skin (lips, eyes). Radiesse gives longer effect and biostimulation in structural areas (jawline, cheekbone). For volume loss Radiesse is a better fit; for lip enhancement hyaluronic acid suits.
Can Radiesse be dissolved if I'm not happy?
No. Unlike hyaluronic acid, CaHA cannot be dissolved enzymatically. The substance breaks down naturally over 12 to 18 months. That makes the injector's precision particularly important — always choose someone with specific CaHA experience.
What is hyperdiluted Radiesse?
Hyperdiluted Radiesse is the product diluted 1:1 or 1:2 with saline or lidocaine for superficial injection. Used on the neck, décolletage, and hands when skin tightening is wanted without structural volume.
Is Radiesse used in the lips?
No. Radiesse is not injected into lips because of the risk of nodules. For lips we use cross-linked hyaluronic acid which has better flow properties in thin tissue.
