Also known as: polynucleotides, PN, Nucleofill, Plinest
What are polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are polymers of nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA. They are related to PDRN but have longer chains, from 200,000 to 1 million dalton. The higher molecular weight means the product is both regenerative and gives mild structural support to the tissue.
How they work in treatment
Polynucleotides drive fibroblasts to build collagen and elastin, hold water through hydrophilic groups, and quench free radicals. The effect is both biostimulating and hydrating. In practice the product is a hybrid between skin booster and regenerative injection.
Where they are used
Most common areas are the eye region (thin skin, tone), neck, décolletage, and the whole face. The most-used products are Nucleofill and Plinest. Standard is 2 to 3 sessions a few weeks apart.
Results and safety
Results emerge over 6 to 8 weeks and last 6 to 9 months. Polynucleotides are well tolerated. Allergy risk is low because the DNA fragments are heavily purified. Outcomes depend on correct placement and dosing. Choose an injector with specific training in the product.
Common questions about Polynucleotides
- What is the difference between polynucleotides and PDRN?
- Polynucleotides have longer DNA chains (200,000 to 1 million dalton) than PDRN (50 to 1500 dalton). The higher molecular weight gives both a regenerative effect and mild tissue support. Polynucleotides are a hybrid; PDRN is pure signalling.
- How long does polynucleotide treatment last?
- Results develop over 6 to 8 weeks and last 6 to 9 months. Maintenance is recommended once or twice a year depending on indication and starting skin quality.
- Can polynucleotides be used under the eyes?
- Yes. The eye region is one of the most common indications. The thin under-eye skin responds well to the hybrid action — hydration and tone improvement without volume risk in the delicate tissue.
- Are polynucleotides the same as filler?
- No. Filler adds volume by filling out the tissue. Polynucleotides do not add volume; they stimulate the skin's own repair and hydration. The result is improved skin quality, not a change in contour.
