About the treatment
Why does it happen? Over the years we lose three things in the cheek area at once: the fat pad under the skin shrinks, the cheekbone slowly resorbs, and the skin's own elasticity decreases. It is a completely natural process that starts as early as your thirties and accelerates after menopause. The result is that the whole midface sinks a little, which can create shadows under the eyes and a heaviness along the jawline.
Which filler we use. We work mainly with Juvéderm Voluma or Restylane Volyme, both premium products developed specifically for deep volume restoration. Voluma uses Allergan's Vycross technology for a slightly firmer structure, ideal if you need a clear lifting effect over the cheekbone. Volyme from Galderma is a little softer and suits broader, more natural restoration across the whole cheek area. During the free consultation we assess together which option fits your facial structure best.
How the treatment works. We start with 15 minutes of numbing cream, then draw out the treatment plan in front of the mirror so you can see exactly where the filler will go. The injection itself takes 30 to 40 minutes and is done with an ultra-fine needle or a microcannula depending on the area. One to two ml per session is the most common. We usually recommend starting conservatively and topping up at the follow-up rather than overbuilding the first time.
Longevity and maintenance. Cheek fillers are among the longest-lasting filler treatments we offer, because the area has low muscle activity and the filler breaks down more slowly. The result typically lasts 12 to 18 months. Within two weeks we book a complimentary follow-up for assessment and any fine-tuning. All filler treatments are performed by our registered nurse.
Aftercare. Sleep on your back for the first two nights, avoid intense exercise, the sauna and alcohol for the first 24 hours, and skip facial massage or any treatment that puts pressure on the cheek area for two weeks. Mild swelling or bruising is common and clears within 3 to 7 days.
Who is it for? Cheek fillers suit you if you have lost volume in the midface, want to soften tear trough shadows under the eyes, or would like a more defined cheekbone line. The injection takes place no earlier than 48 hours after the consultation, in accordance with the cooling-off period. The treatment is not available for pregnant, breastfeeding individuals or those who have not turned 18.
