Botox Jaw Muscle (Masseters)
About the treatment
Treatment for teeth grinding/clenching. Weakens the jaw muscle and can create a slimmer facial contour (V-shape).
Teeth grinding or jaw clenching (clenching hard during sleep) is extremely common and can cause symptoms such as sleep disturbances, headaches, and chronic soreness in the chewing muscles and jaw joints. The teeth risk being worn down, and over time the enamel can be damaged. Botox has proven to be an extremely effective method for weakening the jaw muscle and reducing teeth grinding. Treatment in patients who have been clenching very hard can also contribute to a slimmer facial contour, a so-called V-shape, which most people see as a positive side effect. In large parts of Asia, Botox is used in the jaw muscles specifically for the beautifying effect on the V-shape! Frequently Asked Questions How does a Botox treatment for teeth grinding work? A small amount of Botox is injected into the masseter/jaw muscle. The visit always includes an initial consultation with one of our licensed and certified nurses. The effect comes gradually and reaches full effect within 7–10 days. Normally, the effect of the treatment lasts approximately 3–6 months. A touch-up within 2–3 weeks is included. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we also advise against treatment.
