About the treatment
How does it work? Before the treatment, we conduct a consultation where we map out your concerns and health status. We need to know if you have diabetes, previous venous thrombosis or blood disorders. It is also best if you are not sun-tanned at the time of treatment, as tanned skin camouflages the vessels and makes the treatment more difficult. During the treatment itself, we insert a very thin needle into the vessel and slowly inject a medication that irritates the vessel walls from within. This closes the vessel, which is then broken down by the body. The injection itself hardly hurts, but there may be some stinging. What happens afterwards? Rest from exercise for 2 to 3 days. Protect the treated area from sun for two weeks to avoid discolouration. Consider using compression bandages for the first day and support stockings for the first week. The spider veins may become more prominent initially and vary in colour (red, blue, brown) before finally fading within 6 to 8 weeks. Multiple treatments with at least 8 weeks apart are often needed. New spider veins may develop with hereditary predisposition, but the result of each treatment is generally long-lasting. We can never guarantee that all vessels will disappear completely.
